Coconut Marketplace invites you to immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Hawai’i with our exciting new initiative – Shore Day. Every Thursday, families can come together at the center for a half-day of available activities, featuring Cultural Classes, a vibrant Farmers’ Market, Live Music, and a mesmerizing Hula Show with Fire Knife dancing.
Shore Schedule: A Morning Filled with Culture and Fun
Starting at 9 am, Shore Day unfolds with an abundant Farmers’ Market showcasing exquisite produce from local farmers and artisans in our front parking lot. Everyone is invited to indulge in the distinct flavors of the Garden Isle. Enjoy a Hula Class from the talented Hālau Hula ‘O Leilani beginning at 11 am, allowing participants to learn the graceful movements and cultural significance of traditional Hawaiian dance. Simultaneously, an ʻUkulele Class provides an opportunity for visitors to strum along to the enchanting melodies of the island.
As the day unfolds, families can delve into the art of Lei Making at 11:30 am, crafting a beautiful floral adornment to take with them. At 12 pm, the marketplace comes alive with a Live Local Music performance followed by an enthralling Hula Show with Knife Dancing, lead by Kumu Hula Leilani Rivera Low and the beloved Halau Hula ʻO Leilani, Kauaʻi.
To participate in the classes*, a simple text to Leilani at (808) 651-0682 secures your spot. While class fees do apply, the experience is well worth the investment in cultural enrichment with proceeds going toward the support of the Halau’s ongoing students on-island.
*Please Note: Classes operate on an individual booking basis, and there is no package deal or booking for Shore Day. Shore Day is especially convenient for visitors who can explore the marketplace together, whether arriving by car or as part of a group from the numerous timeshare hotels on the Coconut Coast.
